HIM, short for His Infernal Majesty, was a Finnish rock band formed in 1991 by vocalist Ville Valo, guitarist Mikko "Linde" Lindström, and bassist Mikko "Migé" Paananen. The band gained international recognition for their unique blend of gothic rock, metal, and alternative rock, often characterized by Valo's deep, melancholic vocals and haunting melodies. With a darkly romantic aesthetic and introspective lyrics exploring themes of love, death, and heartache, HIM amassed a devoted fanbase worldwide. Their breakthrough album "Razorblade Romance" (2000) spawned the hit single "Join Me in Death," solidifying their status as one of Finland's most successful musical exports. Throughout their career, HIM released several critically acclaimed albums, including "Love Metal" (2003), "Dark Light" (2005), and "Venus Doom" (2007). Despite disbanding in 2017, HIM's legacy continues to influence the gothic rock and metal scene, leaving behind a catalog of music that resonates with fans around the globe.
